What Are You Grateful For?
The theme of today’s blog is all about being grateful! We often spend so much time concentrating on what is NOT going perfectly in our lives and we end up using up our precious energy focusing on the negative events. Many of us do this every day without taking any time to appreciate the little things (or the big things) in life which make us HAPPY!
On the topic of being grateful- I am so very grateful to have a job that I love & a fabulous team, without whom I wouldn’t have been able to go on my holiday last week which is another thing I am super grateful for. I’ve had a lovely time away doing nothing for a week and it’s been great. I have of course missed you all though… I’m sorry I couldn’t bring the sunshine back with me! Looking forward to being back to dancing with you all Bollywood style with our ‘Shakalaka Baby’ routine. Lots of giggles to be had with this one!
The 5 Minute Journal
I do a journal every day – it’s called ‘the 5 minute journal’. I can’t recommend this enough! It’s a wonderful way to get you thinking about the good things in your life, it totally transforms the way you feel and think day to day.
In my 5 minute journal each morning I write:
- 3 things that I am grateful for,
- 3 things that will make today great,
- 1 daily affirmation that starts with ‘I am…’.
And then at night I write 3 amazing things that happened today. Nothing is insignificant or too small. You could be feeling great that you got out of bed this morning without hitting snooze for example!! Celebrate the small victories as well as the big.
It’s a great way to start and end each day. The more you do this the more you will begin to change your mindset to think of the positive and good things rather than focusing on the negative (which is just all too easy to do).
